A model with a slide case for quickly taking out and putting away a cassette. Normal / High Position. Released in 1996.

The transparent shell of 1 was ストリートレッド (Street Red), while 2 was ストリートブルー (Street Blue). A large G conveying a sense of speed appeared on the package front. Black-and-white photographs were also used on both sides, with nine designs varying by cassette length.
Explanatory note
G-UP! appears to mean Grip-UP!, or “grab it!”. The theme for Normal was “grab powerful sound!”, while for High Position it was “grab clear sound!”. The product’s main feature was its slide-in plastic case. An oval opening in the centre of the front allowed the user to push the cassette up with a thumb and remove it easily and quickly with one hand. To put it away, the user only had to slide it back through the case opening. A ホールド機構 (holding mechanism) kept the cassette from flying out when the case was shaken, and a ハブロックシステム (hub-lock system) prevented tape slack. As the secondary name “for STREET” suggests, ease of use outdoors was a priority; it also had BSM to extend a Walkman’s battery life.
Only Normal and High Position types were sold, with no Metal model. Both lasted for just one generation.
