A cassette “in a great mood”: a colorful transparent shell and fluorescent hubs.
Normal. Released in 1985.
46 minutes - ¥400.
A colored transparent shell with large fluorescent-colored hubs. The shell and internal guide rollers used related colors, while the hubs’ seemingly opposite coloring was novel. The index card and labels also featured designs aimed at young people.
Explanatory Note
By the mid-1980s, “fashion-oriented” cassettes aimed at young users had begun to emerge. This product was one of them, with an appearance that was above all colorful and flashy. The transparent shell came in four colors: pink, orange, yellow and green. The hubs inside seemed to assert their presence with fluorescent colors different from the shell, a design that appeared to heighten the flashiness. The restrained “SONY” logo at the upper right seemed only just to give the design some discipline.
The tape used was “HF.” Recording time was limited to 46 minutes, and all versions used large hubs.
