Nakamichi Home Audio Products March 1986 - cover

Nakamichi’s March 1986 export catalog covers the entire home audio product lineup across 16 pages. It opens with the company’s philosophy and a photo of the Nakamichi Concert Hall, then moves through the full range from flagships to entry-level models.

Cassette decks dominate the catalog, as expected from Nakamichi. At the top sits the 1000ZXL with its A.B.L.E. computing system, followed by the Dragon with its legendary NAAC auto-azimuth correction for reverse playback. The RX series features three decks with unidirectional auto-reverse - a mechanism that physically flips the cassette to maintain stable azimuth. The CR-7 and CR-5 are traditional three-head designs, while the BX-300/125/100 form the entry lineup. Beyond decks, the catalog presents OMS-7 and OMS-5 CD players with quadruple oversampling, the TX-1000 turntable (the world’s first with real-time eccentricity correction) and Dragon-CT, plus PA-7 and PA-5 power amplifiers built on the zero-feedback STASIS topology.

This catalog was provided by Pillers, for which the museum extends its sincere gratitude.
