| ソニーが開発した20ビットデジタルレコーダーで録音されたハイクオリティ・サウンドを、16ビットフォーマットのCDで再現することをめざして開発された画期的な信号処理技術が〈スーパー・ビットマッピング〉です。■20ビットデジタルレコーダーは、16ビットデジタルレコーダーに比べダイナミックレンジが約24dB向上するので、同一レベルに設定した録音の場合には16倍も細かい音を記録でき、ディテールの再現性が向上します。■〈スーパー・ビットマッピング〉処理技術は、20ビットでデジタル収録されたマスター音源からCD用の16ビットマスター音源を作成する際に、従来は四捨五入されていた下位の4ビットの情報を、ディザ(四捨五入で生じる量子化ノイズを分散させるホワイトノイズ)のようなノイズ付加を行なわずに上位16ビットのデータに繰り込んで、16ビットのデータで20ビットの分解能とS/Nを再現させる信号処理方法です。■〈スーパー・ビットマッピング〉処理を行なうことで、限りなく20ビットに近い高分解能と高S/Nが得られるので、ピアニッシモのみならずフォルティシモにおいても音のくずれがなく、高解像度となめらかさが両立した透明感あふれるサウンドを楽しむことができます。 | “Super Bit Mapping” is a groundbreaking signal processing technology developed with the aim of reproducing, on a 16-bit format CD, the high-quality sound recorded on the 20-bit digital recorder developed by Sony. ■ A 20-bit digital recorder improves dynamic range by about 24 dB over a 16-bit digital recorder, so for recordings set to the same level it can record sound 16 times finer, which improves the reproduction of detail. ■ When creating the 16-bit master for CD from a master source digitally recorded at 20 bits, the “Super Bit Mapping” processing technology folds the information of the lower 4 bits, which was conventionally rounded off, into the data of the upper 16 bits without adding noise like dither (white noise that disperses the quantization noise produced by rounding off), and so reproduces the resolution and S/N of 20 bits in 16-bit data. ■ By applying “Super Bit Mapping” processing, high resolution and high S/N as close as possible to 20 bits are obtained, so there is no breakup of the sound in fortissimo as well as pianissimo, and you can enjoy transparent sound in which high resolution and smoothness coexist. |
