Eight-page SONY brochure for November 1986, built around the Digital Separate concept. Three components: CDP-555ESD at ¥150,000 and CDP-333ESD at ¥85,800 - ES-series CD players with digital output - plus the DAS-703ES external DAC at ¥250,000. The idea: the digital stream leaves the player unconverted and arrives clean at a separate analog unit, away from the digital noise of the transport mechanism. The back cover assembles the full system: the CD+DAC pair joined by amplifier TA-F555ESX, tuner ST-S555ESX, cassette deck TC-K555ESX and APM-66ES speakers.
