A saddle-stitched A4 notebook, 16 pages - SONY CD player catalog for February 1987, arranged in three tiers: the ES series (flagship CDP-555ESD at ¥150,000 - “New Reference” replacing the 553ESD, plus external DAC DAS-703ES at ¥250,000), the home range from CDP-510 to CDP-M30, and a new arrival - the five-disc “CD Roulette” CDP-C5M. The central technical spread lays out four principles of the “Sony Intelligent CD Player”: separate component layout, 8x digital filter, predictive S-Servo and Table of Contents control. The opening spread “Voice of CD” shows foreign models in knit sweaters with the slogan: “now the CD player has begun to speak about music.”
