Reference Series headed by Model 105 series II (3-way with separate top heads for tweeter and mid following the Listening Window concept), plus Model 104aB and Model 101, then the more affordable Model 304 and 303 on stands, a dedicated page with KEF drivers T27, B110, B200, B139 and DIY kits Cantata and 104aB. The middle of the booklet (“The KEF Story” and “The KEF Philosophy” spreads) is about the BBC LS3/5A and LS5/1A monitor heritage, 100% computer-selected units on the production line, and built-in electronic protection circuit against driver overload.

…百本の薔薇、花ひらけば、百花繚乱としたその色合いに一つとして同じもののなく、微妙なグラデーションを織りだします。音楽の素晴らしさも、やはり音の繊細な色合い、音色を楽しむことにあるのではないでしょうか。KEFが、スピーカ設計にコンピュータを世界で初めて導入したそもそもの眼目は、百本の薔薇の花の個々の色合いを改変せずに、100の個有の色合いで再現する……。そんな所にあった訳です。まず、ユニットの選定については、信号を送り込んでユニットの振動モードを解析し、その特性を把握し、素材・組成を決定する。又、ユニット相互の位相歪や干渉といった問題をもパターン分析してユニット間の立体的な位置を定める。その諸条件を踏まえて、エンクロージャの理想的な形態、材質、容量を割り出します。これらの事を、つまり、不安定なトランスデューサであるスピーカを、科学的に、その原理から立体的に解明するという事をコンピュータを利用して成し遂げました。ところが、KEFにとってのもっとも大きな成果は、表に顕われた事ではなくもっと地味な所にありました。それは、スピーカの設計に留まらず、生産ラインにコンピュータによる品質管理を導入した事です。これで各パーツの品質の高安定化・均質化が実現され、製品のバラツキが極限まで排除された上で、個々のユニットの特性をパーフェクトに管理しコントロールできる事になります。実は、膨大なKEFのテクノロジーはそんな所にも秘められています。特性を解明した100%高信頼性のユニットを100%の精確さで管理コントロールして造られるスピーカは、百本の薔薇の花の個々の色合いを改変せず、100の個有の色合いで再現する――これは言わば、KEFの責任者であるMr.クックの持論である、“音への色づけを排する”、ノン・カラレーションという事です。自ら創った高信頼のユニットと、設計ばかりか生産ラインにまでコンピュータを導入すると言う新しい手法で造りあげられた、これが新しいKEF、新しい音です。百本の美しい薔薇の個々の色合いを写し絵ですっかり写し取るように、そのアキュレイトでナチュラルなサウンドが、楽しめる音楽を見事に再現します	...When a hundred roses bloom, they weave subtle gradations in a profusion of colors, no two of which are the same. The splendor of music, too, surely lies in enjoying the delicate shades and tones of sound. The very point of KEF being the first in the world to introduce computers into speaker design was to reproduce the individual color of each of the hundred roses, without altering any of them, in a hundred individual shades... That is where it began. First, in selecting the units, a signal is fed in, the vibration modes of the unit are analyzed, its characteristics are grasped, and the material and composition are decided. Also, problems such as phase distortion and interference between units are pattern-analyzed to determine the three-dimensional positions of the units. Based on those conditions, the ideal form, material and volume of the enclosure are worked out. All of this, in other words, the scientific and three-dimensional elucidation of the speaker, an unstable transducer, from its principles, was accomplished using computers. However, the greatest result for KEF was not what shows on the surface but something far more modest. It is that computer quality control was introduced not only into speaker design but also into the production line. This achieved high stability and uniformity in the quality of each part, eliminated variation between products to the limit, and made it possible to manage and control the characteristics of each unit perfectly. In fact, the vast technology of KEF is hidden in places like this as well. A speaker built from 100% highly reliable units whose characteristics have been clarified, and managed and controlled with 100% precision, reproduces the individual color of each of the hundred roses without altering any of them, in a hundred individual shades. This is, so to speak, the pet theory of Mr. Cook, the head of KEF: "eliminate coloring of the sound", that is, non-coloration. With its own highly reliable units and the new method of introducing computers not only into design but also into the production line, this is the new KEF and its new sound. Just as the colors of a hundred beautiful roses are captured completely in a portrait, its accurate and natural sound brilliantly reproduces music you can enjoy.

ソロ・ヴォーカルの録音の良いレコードをかけたとき、前方左右にひろげて置いたスピーカの中央に、あたかもヴォーカリストがこちらを向いて立っている……。そんな、現実感を与えるスピーカ・システム105series II。あくまでも音の正確さを目指して、冷静に音楽を再生し、余分な音をスピーカ自体でつけ加える事なく、音を厳格に分析します。今まで、英国製のスピーカと言えば、何かしら時代めいた雰囲気に包まれたロマンティックな想いの対象として存在していた事の比重が大きかった中で、105series IIは、コンピュータ解析による製品の企画・開発、生産ラインまでもの管理。或いは、リニアフェイズによるユニットの現実的なレイアウト等…。そして、そこから生まれたアキュレイトなKEFの音は、新しい英国の音です	When you play a record with a good solo vocal recording, it is as if the vocalist is standing facing you in the center of the speakers placed spread out left and right in front... A speaker system that gives that sense of reality: the 105series II. Aiming solely at accuracy of sound, it reproduces music calmly and analyzes sound strictly, without adding any extra sound of its own. Until now, British-made speakers have largely existed as objects of romantic feeling wrapped in an atmosphere of a bygone age; against that background, the 105series II is product planning and development by computer analysis, with control extending as far as the production line, and also, for example, a realistic layout of the units using linear phase... And the accurate KEF sound born from that is the new British sound.
