The TA-1140 uses direct coupling (ダイレクト・カップリング方式), while the ST-5140 uses a solid-state filter (ソリッドステート・フィルター). The final page gives a system example with the ULM-3 speakers, PS-2400 turntable, TC-9400A reel-to-reel deck, and TC-2250SD cassette deck. The owner’s manual for this leaflet’s ST-5140 tuner has survived, warranty card included.
